About me

Palo de Yucca was founded in 2016 by designer and former TV host Shahpary Pulido. Shahpary is an American born Mexican/British/Iranian, graduated with a B.A. in International Business from Trinity University Texas. She resides in Mexico City where Palo de Yucca ‘s main branch is located. Her multicultural background and multi-citizenship gave her the keys to discover trends, art and fashion from around the world as she grew up.

Palo de Yucca combines Mexican artistry with the famous “panama” style hats made by hand with toquilla straw from Cuenca Ecuador and jipijapa straw hats from Campeche Mexico. It brings together pre hispanic art and fine quality handmade hats. Each piece is a unique one-of-a-kind item created by the hands of an artisan using color, beauty and love. Using geometric figures that are directly connected to pre hispanic art, hand painted symbolic icons from around the world and elegant floral patterns from various regions make it easy to find a hat for anyone's style and taste. Our Valise a Chapeau’s make it easy to travel and store these most special hats. Our hat trunks are also designed and hand made in Mexico City with the best most expert craftsman.

Palo de Yucca seeks to support local indigenous communities from Chiapas, Yucatan, Tenango de Doria, Oaxaca and Campeche through fair trade while working with various non-profit organizations.
